Hello [name],
Can you believe it's almost 2011 and Apple is still around and growing stronger? Raise your hand if you were an Apple supporter before they were popular... Feels good to have been right all these years, doesn't it?

Another 5 intermediate-level Mac tips for your enjoyment:
1. Internet Sharing via Airport - turn your wired Mac into a wireless router!
Imagine if you could plug a network cable into your Mac and create your own wireless network other people could join. Wouldn't that be amazing?! You'd be the life of the party, even more than usual!
Dream no further! All current Macs can do this.
Simply plug in a network cable and verify that you have working internet.
Then, go into System Preferences -> Sharing, highlight the Internet Sharing option, and share your connection from "Ethernet" to computers using "Airport".
Lastly, click the checkbox to enable Internet Sharing.
Done! Invite your friends to join the new wireless network you've created. They'll see it show up in their Airport menu.
Note: If your Mac goes to sleep or you close the lid, everyone will be disconnected - and likely rather peeved. To turn off Internet Sharing, simply uncheck the "Internet Sharing" checkbox. We sometimes need to turn Airport off and on again as well to get it working.
2. Power-minimizing. Not for the faint of heart.
Try this for fun. Open about ten Finder windows, either by opening multiple folders from your Desktop or by pressing command-n repeatedly.
As we know, the little yellow button in the top left minimizes windows into your Dock.
Now, if you hold Option while you click the yellow button on one of the windows, see what happens. Next, bring them all back from the Dock and try the same thing holding both Shift and Option.
Note: This super useful feature goes really well with rum and eggnog.
3. Forward-delete on a laptop. Deletes stuff to the RIGHT! No joke.
For any laptop user who misses the "forward-delete" option on full-size keyboards (or from Microsoft Windows), you can do the same thing on a laptop: Just hold the Fn key and press Delete. Watch in wonder as text to the right of the insertion point is deleted.
Note: Macinhome will not be liable for any text deletions, accidental or otherwise. Command-z will usually undo. Sadly, "undo" doesn't work in real life situations. We've tried.
Macinhome's viral campaign is online. Still thrilling!
Our very first and very funny viral Macinhome video, created by our very own Andrey Summers, still available here!
4. Full keyboard access for one-handed driving! Sip a pumpkin latte with your mouse hand.
When an error message or dialog box comes up, you can always press Escape to choose "Cancel" or hit Enter for whichever option is all blue (usually the default).
Take it one step further: Go into System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts and enable the "All controls" radio button for "Full Keyboard Access".
Now, in any dialog box you can press Tab to move the selection halo from button to button, and Spacebar will activate whichever one has the halo around it.
You can also experiment in other areas of your Mac with combinations of Tab, arrow keys, Spacebar, Escape, and Return. Efficient!
5. Access your lost or forgotten passwords! Not to imply you forget or lose anything.
Or maybe you have friends who forget passwords. ;)
You can get them back from: Macintosh HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Keychain Access.
Once you open Keychain Access, just search for some relevant terms in the little search box in the top right of that window.
For example: If I forgot my gmail password, I would search for "gmail" or my gmail username in that search box. If I forgot an Airport password, I would search for the Airport network name in that box.
Then, double click the most relevant search result in the list. It will open in a new window.
From that window, click the "Show password" checkbox near the bottom to display the password. You will be asked for the usual Admin password for your Mac, so type that in and press Allow.
Voila! The forgotten password has thus been remembered forevermore!
Macinhome reminder: Distinguished and veteran Macs keep their value!
For anyone using a well-loved and not-too-beat-up Mac they've had for more than two years (we refuse to call them "old"), consider trading up! It's easy, everyone wants one, and they're worth good money.
Example: The average 15" MacBook Pro from about two years ago is worth around $750. A white MacBook from three years ago is worth about $450.
While we don't sell Macs ourselves, we often have requests from our clients who are looking for used Macs, so we can connect you directly with them.
