Viral Macinhome video launched. Thrilling!
Our very first and very funny viral Macinhome video, created by our very own Andrey Summers, available now!
Top 7 things you can do to keep your Mac happy through the holidays:
1. Don't let the battery die completely.
The newer Lithium-ion batteries in current electronics do not benefit from being drained fully once in a while, as the older batteries did. In fact, if your laptop battery gets drained all the way, it can damage the battery and shorten its life. Try to keep a minimum 10% charge in there! Just like gas in your car.
2. Verify that you're backing up.
No Mac expects its hard drive to die before it happens. To make sure Time Machine is running, just pull the menu down and make sure "Latest Backup" is a recent date.

3. Keep your Mac warm and dry.
For laptops, use a good Brenthaven laptop sleeve and a Radtech ScreenSavrz cloth, available at Mac Station.. For iMacs, a nice cozy wool blankie is good. Wait a minute...

4. Quit your open applications as you go.
Hold the Command key, then press Tab a few times. You will see all your open applications and be able to cycle through them. Release Command to switch to the selected application. Try it again, then keep holding Command and press Q to quit the ones you aren't using. Fun, right?
5. Don't move your Mac too quickly while it's running.
Sort of like going swimming right after you eat. If you move the Mac quickly while it's running, the hard drive can be damaged. When you close the lid on your laptop, wait for the light to start pulsing before moving it. Another remedy for this is to buy any Mac with a solid state hard drive, as a gift for yourself (you deserve it). Like the new MacBook Air for example. Small enough to make a great stocking stuffer.
6. Stay on top of shopping lists and mailing addresses.
Keep your images in sync between MacBook, iMac, iPad, and iPhone using Drop Box, and keep your contacts and calendars in sync with MobileMe. Never forget the gift for your second cousin twice removed again!
7. Avoid spilling eggnog in your keyboard.
We feel this is pretty self explanatory. To be safe, please store hazardous eggnog as far from your Mac as possible.
