Ever worry about losing your precious files or photos and you’re not sure about backup, or the “cloud”, or whether your info is safe or not? This 1-minute video is for you.
To check if you’re backing up:
- Click the little Time Machine menu in the top right that looks like this:
- See what it says for “Latest backup”
- If it says “Not configured” then it’s not happening; buy a little hard drive or contact us
- If it says a date that was a while ago, you’ll want to choose “Back Up Now”
- (If you usually back up to a little hard drive, go find it and plug it in. It should start backing up automatically)
- (If you back up to a Time Capsule over Wifi, then you’ll need to be on that Wifi network and leave your Mac on, plugged in to power, and open for a while to make sure it’s done)
- When you think the backup is done, or to check on the status as it’s happening, look in that Time Machine menu again and see what it says.
