It’s surprising how many of our clients do this kind of heavy lifting either entirely in their heads, or with the help of books, charts and post-its, which get lost, eaten by dogs and blown away by light breezes. To avoid this fate, and make your Contacts app work for you, try this:
1) Devote 10 minutes a day to cleaning up a few contact cards. Correctly label and fill in people’s phone numbers, emails, full names, and whether they are a person or a business.
2) Hit Command+L to quickly edit a contact card without having to manually click the little “Edit” button. Hit Command+L again when you’re done. You can hit the Tab key to move from field to field. Save those precious seconds and clean up 10 cards in the time it used to take you to do 3!
3) Click the little “+” that appears next to the “iCloud” contact category in the far lefthand column to make groups for your contact cards. Drag and drop contact cards into those groups for easy sorting. Use the “Notes” field in individual cards to record relevant info you want to remember about that person, or your last interaction.
